About US

The aim of RM SLO PLUS Hub Project

is to establish a dedicated Hub to develop training and consulting tools, equipping stakeholders with best practices for community engagement and fostering sustainable RM operations with responsible industry dialogue.

With the critical importance of raw materials for Europes digital and green transition, the Project seeks to bridge gaps between RM operations and societal expectations through education, consulting, and networking.

The Hub focuses on fostering Social License to Operate (SLO) by equipping stakeholders – companies, academia, policy makers, communities, and NGOs with knowledge and tools to enhance transparency, trust, and responsible RM practices. It will create a centralized repository for SLO best practices, offer training programs tailored to diverse stakeholders across the RM life-cycle, and establish consulting services for effective stakeholder engagement and compliance.

A proof-of-concept pilot course, engaging 150 participants, will showcase innovative pedagogical tools, focusing on EU legislation, ESG principles, and real-world case studies. The Hub integrates expertise from academia, industry, and research organizations across key EU and RIS regions, ensuring comprehensive geographical and sectoral coverage.

Coordinator of the Project is The National Technical University of Athens, School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering (NTUA, SMEE), an institution with extensive experience in educational and research project management. Until now, NTUA has coordinated and/or participated in 22 EIT RM projects. Beside from coordinating university, the Project Consortium is consisted of expert institutions, institutes and companies in the field of RM and SLO, education/digital pedagogy (MUL, KAMK, UNIBL, UPM), consulting/advisory services (MEERI, PASECO) and industrial operations and networks (HG, ANEFA, ISMC), from main EU RM regions (Austria, BiH, Finland, Greece, Poland, Spain) and 4 RIS regions.

Aligned with EIT RawMaterials strategic goals, the Hub promotes sustainable RM supply chains, enhances social acceptance, and contributes to Europes competitive advantage in RM management. By fostering stakeholder collaboration, it ensures a socially accepted, green, and sustainable future for the RM sector.
